Address of Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, on the occasion of a Day of Mourning for the Victims of Deportation of Crimean Tatars.

64 years have passed since the day of forcible deportation of Crimean Tatars from their historical Motherland the Crimea. History has witnessed a lot of examples of such violent, cynical and merciless attitude to the entire nation at its native land. Nowadays, Ukraine needs to establish a dialogue between all the nationalities that populate the Autonomy. Integration of the Crimean Tatars is also of great importance. We should create necessary conditions, so that they could make a contribution into the development of Crimea. As a Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I deem necessary to prepare a legislative basis to define legal status of the deported, and compile their State register. It is also essential to determine legal, social and economic needs of such persons. A relevant Bill has already been registered in The Verkhovna Rada.
